Buxted Park: A George III Tulipwood and Sycamore Marquetry Commode
England, circa 1765

An exceptional George III tulipwood and sycamore marquetry bowfront dressing commode attributed to Mayhew & Ince. The commode inlaid with boxwood, the shaped rectangular top inlaid with a central oval fan paterae flanked by floral sprays, above two short bowed drawers, flanked by two drawers inlaid with oval panels of Diana and Erato, above two long drawers, the whole standing on square tapering legs inlaid with tied bell flower chains and spade feet.
