Provenance:
The Margraves and Grand Dukes of Baden, Schloss Karlsruhe
Thence by descent until sold
Sotheby’s Die Sammlung der Markgrafen und Grossherzöge von Baden, Baden-Baden, 5 – 21st October 1995

Notes:
The overall form of these cabinets, formerly in the so-called family room at Schloss Karlsruhe, closely imitates the contemporary French style of the early Napoleon III period. With the use of pine instead of the more normal oak, the back panels suggest that they were made in Germany, possibly even in Baden-Baden, following a French pattern.
