A superb pair of mid 18th century Irish mahogany side chairs.

The wonderfully intricate interlaced splat backs each surmounted by a top cresting rail magnificently carved to represent extravagant theatrical velvet drapery, the front cabriole legs carved with foliate cabochons to the knees and acanthus leaves, the feet in the form of foliate carved inverted scrolls. The seats upholstered with silk covers and close-nailed brass button detailing.

The mahogany with lustrous depth of colour and patina.
