An exceptional George II Chippendale period mahogany piecrust tripod table. The circular mahogany top with moulded piecrust border of outstanding depth of colour and patina, above a birdcage tilt-top mechanism standing on a fluted and turned acanthus carved baluster stem, on a tripartite base, each cabriole leg magnificently carved with shells and trailing foliage to the knees with exaggerated C-scrolls to the undersides, the legs terminating in elongated claw and ball feet of superb quality.
