A QUEEN ANNE JAPANNED BUREAU CABINET

england , circa 1710

A fine Queen Anne black japanned bureau cabinet of rare small proportions. The upper section with domed finial mounted crestings about a single door with the original shaped and bevelled mirror plate opening to reveal shelves, pigeon holes and small drawers, the lower section with fold over writing slope and a selection of pigeon-holes, drawers, and secret compartments, all above two short drawers over two long drawers, standing on turned bun feet.

The whole decorated throughout fine gilt chinoiseries on a black japanned background.
