A PAIR OF SAMSON LAMPS

france , late 19th century

A superb pair of late 19th century French Samson porcelain baluster vases decorated in the Chinese export famille rose palette. Of octagonal form, the vases moulded with elongated panels of alternating figural landscapes and flower and foiage amidst stylised rock work, on a background of  dense scrolling flowering chrysanthemums, within floral and lotus borders, the bases with striped borders, the necks with alternating moulded cartouches of birds and flowers on a pink trellis ground, now mounted as lamps with hand gilded turned bases.

Height of vases: 18 1/2  in  (47  cm) including giltwood bases, excluding electrical fitment and lampshades)

All of our lamps can be wired for use worldwide. A selection of card, linen or silk lampshades can be supplied on request.
