A superb and rare George I burr walnut kneehole secretaire desk of exceptional colour and patina. The top with moulded edge and quarter veneer book matched panels, cross banded and inlaid with feather banding. The front of the top drawer opening to reveal an extendable writing surface with pigeonholes and small drawers, above two columns of small drawers surrounding a recessed kneehole cupboard. The drawer fronts similarly veneered and neatly edged with a half round cockbead. Above the deep kneehole recess, the shaped apron pulls out as a further drawer. Standing on its original bracket feet. The brass handles and escutcheons on the piece are typical of the period.
