An exceptionally fine and rare early 18th century George I period burr walnut caddy top chest of drawers. Of small scale, and with superb colour and patina. The veneered top with moulded edge over a brushing slide and a combination of two short drawers over three long graduated drawers and all with original brass handles and escutcheons, and standing on bracket feet.

This exceptional chest was part of the celebrated Parry Collection, noted for its emphasis on fine craftsmanship and proportion, unusual detail and in particular on magnficent colour and patina.
A similar chest-of-drawers with identical metal-work, a veneered brushing-slide and identical feather-banding, is illustrated in The Somerset House Art Treasures Exhibition Catalogue, November - December 1979, no. 71, described as 'having the original and most unusual brasses'.
