A fine early 20th century silver plated table lamp by Mappin & Webb in the form of a stop-fluted Corinthian column with acanthus decorated capital and square stepped plinth base.

Height of lamp to top of column: 18 1/2  in (47 cm) excluding electrical fitment and lampshade.

Mappin & Webb traces its origins to a silver workshop founded by Jonathan Mappin  in Sheffield in 1775 and has held Royal Warrants to British monarchs since 1897. Mappin & Webb's master craftsman Martin Swift was appointed in 2012 to the position of Crown Jeweller, the custodian of the British Crown Jewels. He was responsible for preparing the Crown Jewls for the State Opening of Parliament and other state occasions. 

Mappin & Webb is still today a company of international repute. Past patrons have included Queen Marie-Antoinette oif France, the Empress of Russia and Princess Grace of Monaco, In addition to the British Warrants, the company historically also held Royal Warrants to both the Russian Tsars and the Japanese Royal Household. Mappin & Webb produced the original Ryder Cup trophy, and made trophies for Royal Ascot horse races for 75 years.
